Life’s big changes can sometimes feel like juggling flaming swords while riding a unicycle—overwhelming and a little scary. And while many of us are in the same boat of struggling, we all have our own unique way of feeling that storm. With two Master's degrees—one in Family Studies from Texas Woman’s University and another in Counseling from LeTourneau University—I’m also a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a focus on family systems and chemical dependency. Through my work, I’ve helped people tackle challenges like anxiety, depression, family dynamics, relationship struggles, and substance issues. I work with everyone—adolescents, adults, couples, and families—helping you not just survive, but thrive. It takes bravery to ask for help, and guess what? You've already done that! I possess a master’s degree in education and social work from Cleveland State University and have an Independent Social Work License with Supervisor Credentials, as well as a license in School Counseling. My background encompasses working in the public, government, and private sectors, conducting assessment and diagnostic testing, crisis intervention, and program development, with a commitment to addressing personal knowledge gaps and biases regarding culturally diverse groups. I have over twenty years of experience using cognitive therapy to help clients move away from rigid, judgmental self-talk to a more compassionate internal voice. Clients also identify and utilize healthy external strengths, supports, and experiences, considering the potential need for environmental change. In close collaboration, we will utilize your sources of strength and motivation to reconsider the helpfulness of thoughts in relation to everyday life, rather than focusing solely on their rationality or validity. My specialties include working with ADHD, adolescent and teen mental/behavioral health, anger management, antisocial behavior, anxiety, children's mental/behavioral health, depression, developmental disabilities, family relationships, military/veteran support, multicultural/diversity issues, stress, and trauma. I believe in creating a supportive and understanding environment where you feel heard and valued. As a therapist, I am passionate about empowering individuals and have over 30 years of experience working in mental health in clinical, school, and community settings. I aim to join you in successfully reaching your goals of repairing/resolving conflicts, lessening distress and emotional pain, solving problems, and enhancing your overall well-being. I work hard to create a safe, calm place where my clients feel supported and heard. While I have worked with clients with multiple therapeutic issues, I have spent many years specifically assisting clients with issues related to trauma, adoption, educational needs, attachment, divorce, parenting concerns, and mood disorders. I am a compassionate licensed independent social worker who graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a master's in clinical social work. I am deeply passionate about supporting children and families as they navigate life’s challenges, including but not limited to anxiety, trauma, and social/emotional regulation coping skills.
