What this evaluation includes
An autism spectrum evaluation involves multiple components to ensure an accurate and thoughtful diagnosis.

Clinical interview
With a licensed psychologist to discuss symptoms, history, and concerns
Detailed developmental history
Review of early milestones, language acquisition, and social development
Standardized autism assessment tools
Such as MIGDAS-2 when clinically appropriate
Behavioral observation
Structured observation of social interaction and communication patterns
Parent or caregiver questionnaires
Standardized measures of behavior and development
Communication and social interaction assessment
Evaluation of verbal and nonverbal communication, social reciprocity, and restricted behaviors
Evaluation for co-occurring conditions
Including ADHD, anxiety, and learning differences
Written diagnostic report
With findings, diagnostic codes, and recommendations
How this differs from a screening
An autism screening is a brief checklist. A psychological evaluation is a structured diagnostic process conducted by a licensed psychologist.

May include select neuropsychological measures
When clinically indicated, but this is not a full neuropsychological battery assessing all cognitive domains
Focused on Autism Spectrum Disorder
Designed to diagnose ASD and related developmental conditions with clinical precision
How the autism evaluation process works
From initial consultation through your written diagnostic report.
- 1
Initial consultation (45 minutes)
Review developmental history, early milestones, current concerns, and school or social challenges. Caregivers may complete structured questionnaires prior to testing.
- 2
Testing and observation (60–120 minutes)
Complete standardized autism assessments and behavioral observation measures. Additional tools may be used depending on age and presentation.
- 3
Feedback and report
Meet with your psychologist to review findings. Receive a detailed written diagnostic report outlining results, recommendations, and suggested next steps.

A developmentally informed approach
Autism evaluations require understanding developmental history and behavioral patterns over time. Each evaluation is tailored to the child or teen's developmental stage.

Early language development
Tracking speech onset, vocabulary growth, and pragmatic language use
Social reciprocity
Assessing the ability to engage in back-and-forth social interaction
Play and imaginative behaviors
Observing play patterns, flexibility, and pretend play development
Sensory sensitivities
Evaluating responses to sounds, textures, light, and other sensory input
Repetitive behaviors or restricted interests
Identifying patterns of repetitive movement, routines, or focused interests
Emotional regulation
Assessing the ability to manage frustration, transitions, and unexpected changes
Documentation for school and support services
A formal autism diagnosis often requires written documentation. Our evaluation provides what you need.

Comprehensive written report
A detailed summary of evaluation findings and clinical impressions
Functional impact statements
Describing how ASD affects daily life and learning
Recommendations for school accommodations
Tailored next steps for classroom support and related services
IEP and 504 plan support
Supporting documentation for accommodation requests. Additional services may be required depending on district policies.
Assessing the whole picture
Autism frequently co-occurs with ADHD, anxiety, and learning differences.

Evaluation for co-occurring conditions
When clinically appropriate, your psychologist may evaluate for additional conditions to ensure an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan
Combined evaluations available
ADHD and autism evaluations can be conducted together when indicated

Dr. Clicque has been a very thorough, patient, kind, and personable doctor throughout this process. I'm so grateful I found her. She somehow made me feel extremely comfortable talking about things that for the most part I have never said out loud to another human being. I love her personality, on top of all that. I highly recommend her.
