An ADHD screening is a brief questionnaire. A psychological evaluation is a structured diagnostic process conducted by a licensed psychologist.

Includes select neuropsychological measures
But this is not a full neuropsychological battery that assesses all cognitive domains
Specifically designed for ADHD
Focused on diagnosing ADHD and related conditions with precision and clinical rigor
How the ADHD evaluation process works
From initial consultation through your written diagnostic report.
- 1
You'll meet with a licensed psychologist to talk through your child's symptoms, school history, and what's going on now. You may be asked to fill out a few rating scales before the session. It runs about 45 minutes.
- 2
Your child completes standardized ADHD tests, along with measures that look at attention, memory, and planning skills. Your psychologist may add a few more measures if something new comes up. The session runs 60–90 minutes.
- 3

If you are looking for someone who genuinely connects with children, Katie Jones is the best. She has been wonderful with my 7-year-old during a tough time with her mental health. Katie was so attentive—she listened to my daughter, gave her beautiful compliments, and completely validated her emotions. Having a provider who makes your child feel that safe and heard is a major win. Thank you, Katie!

Frequently asked questions
Yes. You get a written diagnostic report from a licensed psychologist. Many families use it to request 504 plans or IEP accommodations at their child's school.
We evaluate children, adolescents, and young adults. A parent or guardian must be present for anyone under 18.
Most families complete the intake, testing session, and feedback session within two to three weeks, depending on scheduling availability.
Yes. We work with a range of insurers and also support out-of-network reimbursement. Check your specific plan during scheduling.
Your psychologist will walk you through the findings and recommendations. If therapy or other services are indicated, we can connect you with a matched specialist at Emora Health.
Yes. Our online ADHD assessments produce a clinical report that schools can use to support IEP and 504 plans. The report is signed by a licensed clinician and includes the diagnostic findings, recommended accommodations, and clinical justification — the same format that in-person evaluations produce. Most school districts accept these reports without additional review, though some may request an in-person follow-up.
Not necessarily. Medication is one of several effective treatments for ADHD, but it is not always the first or only step. Many families start with behavioral therapy, parent coaching, and school accommodations before considering medication. If medication is appropriate, our clinicians work with you to discuss options, monitor effects, and adjust the plan over time.
Effective ADHD treatments for kids include behavioral therapy (especially parent-child interaction therapy), cognitive behavioral therapy for older kids and teens, organizational and executive function coaching, school accommodations, and medication. Most kids benefit from a combination of approaches tailored to their specific symptoms and family situation.
After the assessment, you receive a comprehensive written report (typically within 1–2 weeks) that includes the diagnosis, severity, related conditions, and personalized treatment recommendations. You then meet with the clinician to review the findings, ask questions, and decide on next steps — therapy, medication evaluation, school accommodations, or a combination.
First, schedule a feedback session with the evaluating clinician to review the report in detail. From there, decide on a treatment plan: this might include starting therapy, requesting school accommodations (IEP or 504), considering medication, or all three. Our team can connect you with therapists, prescribers, and school advocacy resources within the same care platform.
A licensed psychologist, psychiatrist, or other qualified mental health clinician can officially diagnose ADHD using DSM-5 criteria. The diagnosis requires a structured assessment that includes parent and (when age-appropriate) child interviews, behavioral rating scales from multiple settings (home and school), and a clinical review of developmental history.
Schedule an evaluation with a licensed clinician — pediatric psychologist, neuropsychologist, or psychiatrist. Online ADHD testing follows the same DSM-5 process as in-person testing: structured parent and child interviews, standardized rating scales completed by parents and teachers, and a clinical synthesis report. With Emora Health, you can book online and complete the full evaluation from home.
Online ADHD testing conducted by a licensed clinician — not a self-administered web quiz — is clinically equivalent to in-person testing. The diagnostic criteria are the same, the standardized instruments (Vanderbilt, Conners, BASC) work identically in remote administration, and the clinician interviews are conducted over secure video. Self-administered online quizzes are useful as screening tools but cannot replace a clinical evaluation.
A standardized online assessment administered by a licensed clinician can produce a clinical ADHD diagnosis that meets DSM-5 criteria. Free or self-administered online ADHD quizzes cannot make a clinical diagnosis — they are screening tools that suggest whether a full evaluation is warranted.
A screening is a brief questionnaire (usually 10–30 minutes) designed to flag whether someone might have ADHD and should pursue a full evaluation. A diagnosis is the result of a comprehensive clinical assessment — typically 2–4 hours of interviews, rating scales, and clinical observation — performed by a licensed clinician. Screenings cannot result in a diagnosis on their own.
