Frequently asked questions

How often will you communicate with me as a parent?

I maintain regular communication with parents regarding scheduling, treatment goals, and general progress as appropriate. The frequency of contact varies based on the client's needs. I respect client confidentiality while partnering with parents to support their child's growth and well-being.

What does our first session look like?

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and determine whether we're a good fit. We'll discuss what brings you or your child to counseling, review relevant history, explore current concerns, and identify goals for therapy. I'll also explain my approach, review important policies such as confidentiality and informed consent, and answer any questions you may have. My goal is to create a comfortable, supportive environment where you feel heard and understood. You don't need to prepare anything special—just come as you are

How will I know if therapy is working?

Progress in therapy can look different for every child, but parents often notice changes such as improved communication, better emotional regulation, healthier coping skills, increased confidence, stronger relationships, or fewer behavioral concerns. Throughout the counseling process, we'll establish goals and periodically review progress together. While I respect your child's confidentiality, I will partner with you to discuss overall growth, treatment goals, and ways to support progress at home.
