Biography

I provide warm, practical counseling for kids, teens, and young adults navigating anxiety, life transitions, and growing up. With a master’s in counseling from Lamar University, I focus on understanding the story behind the behavior. I create a safe, judgment-free space where youth feel heard—not lectured—and partner with parents to support lasting change at home. My goal is to help clients build resilience, uncover their strengths, and gain practical tools to thrive.

Frequently asked questions

What does our first session look like?

Our first session will be a time for you to share what is going on in your world and what is causing you difficulty in your life. It will be a warm and non-judgmental time for you to share to the extent you are comfortable and for me to share with you some of the framework of therapy. You and or your child are in control of how much you want to share and what you want to discuss.

What if my child or teen won't open up to you?

If your child or teen won't open up to me in the beginning we can focus on building a rapport through sharing small details that are easy to answer. For example, we can discuss seemingly small details of life for example what is their favorite color or favorite food. What is a movie they saw recently that they liked. It is completely understandable when any client, especially a child, does not feel comfortable opening up to a person they have never met. I work to relate to the child through talking and sharing so they feel comfortable with me.

Do you give homework or practice between sessions?

Yes, I do give a little homework between sessions. Research shows that simple assignments such as journaling as little as two to three sentences a day, can help clients to find progress with therapy. Often I ask clients to simply reflect on their day, noting feelings and experiences that affected their mood. Homework will never be excessive or mandatory. I will always work with the client to find what will work best for them between sessions.
