Frequently asked questions
What does our first session look like?
We’ll discuss your current concerns, mental health history, strengths, goals, and areas where you would like support. I’ll take time to answer questions, explain the counseling process, and work collaboratively with you to develop a treatment approach that fits your individual needs. My goal is for you to leave your first session feeling heard, respected, and supported.
What if my child or teen won't open up to you?
That’s okay. Building trust takes time, especially when a young person may feel unsure about counseling. I don’t believe in forcing a child or teen to talk before they are ready. I use age-appropriate, engaging, and individualized approaches to help clients feel comfortable and build a therapeutic relationship at their own pace. My goal is to create a safe environment where they can gradually feel comfortable expressing themselves.
