Frequently asked questions
What does our first session look like?
Our first session is all about connection, collaboration, and clarity. It is a structured conversation designed to help us map out where you are now and where you want to go. During our 50 to 60 minutes together, we will: Get Settled: Confirm confidentiality and ensure you feel secure in our virtual space. Share Your Story: Discuss what brings you to therapy and the current challenges you face. Set Goals: Identify what healing, growth, or reclaiming your identity looks like for you. Plan Ahead: Collaborate on a game plan and ensure we are a great therapeutic fit
How will I know if therapy is working?
Progress usually shows up in small, meaningful shifts in your daily life. You will know it’s working when you notice: Higher Awareness: You catch old patterns or negative self-talk happening in real-time. Stronger Boundaries: You say no, protect your peace, and advocate for yourself with less guilt. Faster Recovery: Disruptive situations no longer derail your entire week; you bounce back quicker. Reclaimed Identity: You feel more aligned with who you actually are, not just what others expect. Above all, you will feel a growing sense of agency over your lif
How do you handle confidentiality with teens?
Trust is essential for successful teen therapy. To ensure they feel safe being completely honest, we balance their need for privacy with your need to stay informed. The Teen’s Space: Day-to-day details, thoughts, and personal struggles remain private to foster open processing. The Parent’s Role: You will be kept informed on general progress, overarching themes, and ways to support them at home. The Safety Exception: If your teen is a danger to themselves or others, confidentiality is immediately broken, and you are notified. Our goal is to build a secure bridge of communication.
