About teen therapists in Florida

A teenager who agrees to therapy has usually been carrying something for a while. Parents often get here after a stretch of slammed doors, grades sliding, a friendship that fell apart, or one comment at dinner that made the whole house go quiet. Wanting help for your teen does not mean you have failed them, and it does not mean things have to get worse before they can get better.

Teen therapy is not child therapy with older clients. Your teen is the client in the room, and the work depends on them believing that. The clinicians here are clear with families in the first session about what stays between them and your teen and what does not, so nobody has to guess. Most draw on cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT skills, or acceptance and commitment therapy, and many hold a short separate check-in with parents alongside the individual sessions.

Everyone on this page works with adolescents, is licensed in Florida, and is accepting new clients. Sessions are by video, which matters more at this age than any other. A teenager who will not sit in a waiting room will often talk from their own bedroom.

Teen Therapists in Florida: common questions

How much does teen therapy cost in Florida?
Emora is in-network with most major commercial plans, and with Medicaid in several states. Once your plan is applied, most families pay between $0 and $35 per session. You can check what your own plan covers before you book at /cost-estimate. There is no membership fee, and matching with a clinician is free.
What is the difference between a teen therapist and a school counselor?
A school counselor supports your teen inside the school. That means schedules, accommodations, short check-ins, and crisis response during the school day, usually across a caseload of several hundred students. A teen therapist is an independently licensed mental health clinician who provides ongoing, confidential treatment for anxiety, depression, self-harm, trauma, and related concerns. They are not competing roles, and many families keep both. The clinicians on this page are licensed therapists, not school staff.
What ages do teen therapists on this page work with?
This page lists clinicians who work with adolescents. Individual age ranges vary and are shown on each provider card. Younger siblings are better served by the child therapy page for Florida. Emora also has clinicians who work with young adults into their mid-twenties, which matters when your teen is heading to college and does not want to start over with someone new.
How soon can my teen start?
Only clinicians who are currently accepting new clients appear on this page, and the times on each card come from that clinician’s live calendar. Many families book a first session within about 48 hours. If your teen is in immediate danger, call or text 988 now rather than waiting for an appointment.
Are teen therapy sessions virtual?
Yes. Every session is over secure video. Your teen will need a private room and a time that does not collide with practice or a shift, which is why clinicians on this page keep evening and weekend availability. Emora does not operate physical clinics.

With nearly two decades of experience working with children and families, I am passionate about helping young people develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive emotionally, socially, and academically. I began my career as an elementary school counselor in 2008 and have dedicated my professional life to supporting children through life's challenges with compassion, creativity, and evidence-based care. I earned my Master of Education in Professional Counseling from the University of Georgia, my Education Specialist degree in School Counseling from Georgia State University, and my Doctor of Education in Professional Counseling and Supervision from the University of West Georgia. I have been a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Georgia since 2014, and became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Florida in 2025. My therapeutic approach is individualized to meet each child's unique needs, integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, play therapy, and expressive art therapy. I believe children communicate and heal in many different ways, and I strive to create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment where they feel understood, empowered, and capable of overcoming life's obstacles. Whether a child is struggling with anxiety, emotional regulation, behavioral concerns, self-esteem, life transitions, or social challenges, my goal is to partner with families to help children build resilience, strengthen coping skills, and discover their own inner strengths. I am committed to providing a warm, collaborative space where every child feels valued, heard, and supported on their journey toward growth and well-being.

I bring 20 years of experience in the mental health field to her work with adults, older adults, children, and adolescents navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, and a wide range of clinical concerns. Credentials & Experience I earned my graduate degree from Walden University, with prior education at Hodges University and Pasco Hernando Community College. Over the course of two decades in the mental health field, I have worked as a case manager and therapist in a psychiatric hospital for 15 years, transitioned into partial hospitalization program (PHP) work for two years, and spent the last several years in private practice. Specialties & Conditions Treated I specialize in depression, anxiety, social anxiety, PTSD, adjustment disorders, grief and loss, bipolar disorder, substance abuse, social skills development, anger management, and couples therapy. My depth of experience across inpatient, partial hospitalization, and private practice settings allows me to support clients through a wide range of clinical presentations. Approach to Care I use a therapeutic style centered around each individual’s unique needs. Helping clients build on their strengths while identifying areas for growth, working from an empathetic and respectful stance that aims to alleviate pain, stress, and internal struggle. I offer support, respect, and empathy while truly listening to her clients’ stories. I acknowledge that taking the first step to reach out for support is itself a challenging experience — and believe that, as clients reach their goals, the work itself becomes deeply rewarding. What to Expect in Your First Session Your first session with me is a chance to share your story in a space where you’ll feel listened to without judgment. I'll ask about what brought you in, what you’ve tried before, and what kind of support feels most useful right now. From there, I'll work with you to identify your strengths and begin shaping a path forward that honors both who you are today and who you want to become. Conditions & Services Treated Depression Treatment — two decades of clinical experience Anxiety & Social Anxiety — evidence-based individual therapy PTSD & Trauma — support for adults and youth Bipolar Disorder — mood stabilization and ongoing care Grief & Loss — compassionate support through life transitions Couples Therapy — communication and relational repair
