About psychiatric clinicians for adults in Florida

Parents get to this page by one of two routes. Either you have been managing your own depression, anxiety, or ADHD for years, fitting it around everyone else’s appointments, or your child’s diagnosis raised a question about you that turned out to have an answer. Either way, getting your own care is not a detour from your child’s.

The clinicians listed here are psychiatric prescribers licensed in Florida who treat adults. A first visit is an assessment, not a prescription. It covers what you are experiencing and for how long, your medical history and current medications, sleep, alcohol and caffeine, what has worked or failed before, and what you want to be different. Sometimes it leads to a medication trial with a set follow-up. Sometimes it leads to therapy, a sleep referral, or bloodwork to rule out something physical first. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, say so at the start. It changes the options, and it is a conversation these clinicians have often.

Being treated in the same practice as your child means the two clinicians can coordinate when it helps and you ask for it, without you carrying the messages. Visits are virtual and insurance is billed.

Psychiatry for Parents in Florida: common questions

How much does psychiatric care for adults cost in Florida?
Emora is in-network with most major commercial plans, and with Medicaid in several states. Once your plan is applied, most families pay between $0 and $35 per session. You can check what your own plan covers before you book at /cost-estimate. There is no membership fee, and matching with a clinician is free.
Do I need my child to be an Emora client?
No. Any adult in Florida can book with the prescribers on this page. If your child is already in care here, the clinicians can coordinate with your written consent, which is useful because family history matters when a prescriber is choosing a medication. Your record and your appointments are still yours, and confidentiality works the way it would in any adult psychiatric practice.
What ages do these prescribers work with?
Adults. Each provider card shows that clinician’s own age range. Prescribers for your child are on the child psychiatry and teen psychiatry pages for Florida.
Can I get an adult ADHD assessment and medication here?
Adult ADHD is one of the more common reasons parents book, often after a child gets diagnosed. Your prescriber will assess you properly rather than treating your child’s diagnosis as evidence about you, and will frequently want formal testing first. Emora psychologists evaluate adults, and they are listed on the psychologists for parents page for Florida. Stimulant prescribing is governed by federal and state rules that vary by state, and your prescriber will tell you at the first visit what applies in Florida.
Are visits virtual, and how quickly can I be seen?
All visits are over secure video, and prescriptions go electronically to your pharmacy. Only prescribers accepting new patients are listed, and each card shows their live openings. Many parents book an initial evaluation within about 48 hours, and follow-ups are shorter and usually scheduled at the end of the first visit. This is not a crisis service. If you are in danger, call or text 988.

I absolutely loved her and it was so helpful and I felt so heard. I loved that when she found out I was a Christian she shared with me that she is also a believer. I am excited for my journey with her and she gave me hope when I have been feeling hopeless for so long!

Carrie is fantastic and helpful while we figure out what kind of medicine my daughter needs to be on. It’s a journey but she’s making it easy!
