Frequently asked questions
What does our first session look like?
Our first session will be an opportunity for us to build rapport while hearing what situations brought you to therapy. It will be opportunity for me to understand your point of view while feeling heard, understood, and welcomed. We will work together in the first few sessions for you to create goals and, and we will then take small steps each week to help you reach your goals.
How will I communicate with you as a parent?
Before our first meeting, I will send you a welcome message. During our first meeting, I will hear both your point of view and the situation/needs which brought your child/family to therapy. You will have an opportunity to share any concerns right at the beginning of our sessions. I will follow up with you after each session to either give you a parenting tip and remind you of our next appointment. I will always abide by my ethical and legal responsibility to break confidentialtiy if necessary. Finally, we will work together ot help your child grow and reach their goals.
How will I know if therapy is working?
A parent will know therapy is working when they see positive changes with their child. Their child will have both a platform to share their experiences, emotions, and points of view, and they will have an opportunity to learn new skills so they can do handle their emotions, regulate, and have the tools to help them be most successful.
