Biography
Healing begins with feeling heard. I work with children, teens, adults, couples, and families facing anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, anger, and life's transitions. My approach is warm, practical, and collaborative, blending evidence-based strategies with genuine compassion. Together, we'll build skills, strengthen resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change.

Frequently asked questions
What does our first session look like?
Our first session is about getting to know you. We'll talk about what brings you to therapy, what's working, what's been difficult, and what you hope to gain. There's no pressure to have all the answers.
How often will you communicate with me as a parent?
Parents are an important part of the process. I'll keep you informed while also protecting your child's privacy so they have a safe place to share. We'll work together to support your child's growth.
How will I know if therapy is working?
You'll likely begin noticing small changes first—feeling more understood, reacting differently, communicating more effectively, or feeling more hopeful. We'll regularly review your goals and celebrate progress together.
What if my child or teen won't open up to you?
That's okay. Trust takes time. I don't force conversations—I focus on building a genuine relationship so your child feels comfortable opening up at their own pace.
How do you handle confidentiality with teens?
I respect teens' privacy while partnering with parents. I'll always discuss safety concerns, but otherwise I encourage honest conversations by creating a space where teens feel safe to be themselves.
Do you give homework or practice between sessions?
Sometimes. If it's helpful, I'll suggest simple strategies or skills to practice between sessions. Any activities are tailored to your goals and designed to fit into everyday life.
How long does therapy typically take?
Every person is different. Some people reach their goals in a few months, while others benefit from longer-term support. We'll regularly check in and adjust the plan together.
How do you decide together when therapy is done?
We'll decide together. My goal is to help you feel confident using the skills you've learned so you can continue moving forward even after therapy ends.

It made me feel like there’s progress that can be made in my situation. Where as before I felt like I can only deal with things to a certain degree.

Charlene has been great with my 8-year-old son. He has independently been practicing the breathing techniques she's teaching him, so I know it's sinking in!

Therapist was able to connect with my daughter, get her laughing and smiling during the first session. This hasn't happened since our move to virtual therapy.

This meeting exceeded my expectations as a mother. Seeing my baby feel excited and hopeful for a brighter future has in turn done the same for me. I'm so grateful to have found Charlene, and I look forward to her and my child working together from here on out. We were given some great feedback today that we will absolutely implement. I am beyond grateful.
