Frequently asked questions
How often will you communicate with me as a parent?
I believe parents play an important role in their child's progress, so I strive to maintain open communication while also protecting your child's privacy and trust. We will discuss goals together at the start of treatment, and I'll provide regular updates on progress, skills being learned, and ways you can support your child at home. If concerns arise, I'll communicate with you promptly, while ensuring your child has a safe space to express themselves openly in therapy.
How do you handle confidentiality with teens?
Building trust is essential when working with teens. I provide a confidential space where they can speak openly, while keeping parents appropriately involved in treatment. I share progress, goals, and recommendations without disclosing every detail discussed in session. If there are concerns about your teen's safety or the safety of others, I will communicate with you immediately. My goal is to create a balance that supports your teen's growth while fostering a collaborative relationship with parents.
What does our first session look like?
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a strong therapeutic relationship. I'll complete a comprehensive assessment to better understand your or your child's background, current concerns, strengths, and any experiences that may be important to treatment. It might feel like I'm asking a lot of questions, but that's completely normal! The more I learn about you, the better I can tailor therapy to your unique needs. We'll also discuss your goals, answer any questions you have, and review what to expect moving forward.

It’s always a challenge with family when one person wants the other to change to fit their own needs, wants, and beliefs. It’s really hard to change someone who is already self-aware and comfortable with who they are.

Fabiola was very kind and professional. Over the course of our session she would proceed to ask how my week had gone, go over cognitive distortion, and give me advice on how to work on my problems.
