Biography

You're doing everything you can for your child but the meltdowns keep coming and nothing seems to make a real dent. Does this feel familiar? Maybe you're bracing yourself from the moment your child wakes up. Or yelling more than you want to. And wondering if something deeper is going on and how you can get back to a more peaceful home. I'm Elaine and together we'll address what's actually driving the meltdowns, not just the surface behavior.

Frequently asked questions

What does our first session look like?

The first session focuses on learning about your child and family, and building trust and safety. There's no pressure to dive into anything before anyone is ready. We work at a pace that feels right for you and your child.

How will I know if therapy is working?

Progress in child therapy is often quiet at first. Over time you may notice fewer meltdowns, faster recovery, and a growing ability for your child to express how they are feeling.

How long does therapy typically take?

I typically plan for an initial 12 sessions and then talk together with the family to plan for the next steps. That may mean additional sessions, or discharge, or a temporary break.

Do you give homework or practice between sessions?

I do not give formal homework between sessions. I do make suggestions on which tools and strategies would be beneficial to experiment with between sessions.
