Biography

Life is meant to be better! A highly transitional upbringing and my work with foster youth drove me to help others break free from heavy emotional loops and behavior patterns. Using Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), CBT, and psychoeducation, I offer a mind-body approach to process distress and quiet the "alarm" of a hyperactive nervous system. Let's untangle difficult cycles and build the coping skills needed to guide you or a loved one toward a more peaceful, stable future.

Frequently asked questions

What does our first session look like, and how do we move forward?

Our first session is an intake where we go over how counseling works, discuss confidentiality, and map out goals. It’s a safe space for both you and your child to share your viewpoints so I can get a complete picture of what to focus on. Moving forward, the structure shifts: sessions become highly client-focused, often featuring shortened parental check-ins at the beginning or end. This ensures you stay connected as a family while giving your child the dedicated, private space they need to work with their nervous system.

My child hates the idea of "therapy" or "talking." How do you handle this?

I meet clients exactly where they are—even if they don't want to be here. There is zero judgment; if they are angry or silent, that’s okay. Because I specialize in the nervous system and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), we don't have to rely on traditional talk therapy. We focus on how the body is feeling rather than forcing them to recount distressing events. Kids can feel relieved if they don't have to explain themselves throughout the session.

What is Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and how does it work online?

ART is a fast-acting, brain-body approach that uses Bilateral Stimulation (BLS) to help the brain reprocess "stuck" emotions. During telehealth sessions, I guide clients through simple movements, such as tapping their own shoulders or following on-screen cues. Think of it like organizing a messy closet: we don't erase the memory, but the BLS changes how it feels in the body so it no longer triggers panic. It allows clients to rapidly process difficulties without talking about them.

How do you keep younger clients engaged in a virtual format?

I don't expect a 9-year-old or a stressed teen to stare at my face on a screen for an hour. I use interactive visual screen-sharing to identify emotions, map sensations in the body, and other helpful digital tools to keep sessions highly collaborative. It transforms therapy from an intimidating, clinical lecture into an active, visual exploration that helps keep their attention.

How does "working with the body" actually help me feel better?

If you've felt a tight knot in your stomach when stressed or a racing heart when angry, that’s your survival brain signaling your body. Your mind can get stuck looping on a problem, but your body holds the key to turning the alarm off. Through telehealth, I’ll help you to track those physical feelings. Then, we use simple techniques like bilateral tapping and image rescripting to calm your nervous system so your body can finally drop into a state of safety.

How do you handle privacy between my teen's sessions and me?

In our first session, we address how therapy works and collaborate on a plan. Teens build trust through strict confidentiality, which is vital for their progress. To respect the essential supporting role of parents, we'll agree during that initial session on what information will be shared. Moving forward, my collaboration with parents focuses on providing psychoeducation and tools to support your teen's nervous system regulation at home—keeping you actively involved without divulging the private details of their individual sessions.

Can this approach work for older adults too, or is it just for kids?

The nervous system doesn't care how old you are! Whether we are 9, 18, or older adults, our brain is using the same biological hardware. The underlying science of bilateral stimulation and somatic processing is incredibly powerful for adults looking to resolve long-standing stress, burnout, or old patterns that feel stuck in the body.
