Biography

I am a compassionate Mental Health Counselor with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. I support children, adolescents, and young adults facing anxiety, stress, behavioral concerns, low self-esteem, and family challenges. Frequently asked questions

What does our first session look like?

The first therapy session is an opportunity to build a strong foundation for the therapeutic process. During this initial meeting, I sit down with the client and their parent(s) or guardian(s) to get to know them, discuss what therapy may look like, and answer any questions they may have. Together, we explore the client’s strengths, challenges, and areas of concern while identifying meaningful goals for treatment.

What if my child or teen won't open up to you?

Building a strong therapeutic rapport is an important part of the therapy process, and some clients need more time than others to feel comfortable. I strive to meet each client where they are by exploring their interests, strengths, and preferred ways of engaging while creating a safe, supportive, and trusting environment. However, if it becomes clear that the client may benefit from a different therapeutic approach or connection with another provider, I am happy to assist with the transfer process to help ensure they receive the support that best meets their needs.

How often will you communicate with me as a parent?

The frequency of parent communication depends on the unique needs of the client and family. At minimum, I typically check in with parents or guardians once a month to discuss how the client is functioning at home, school, and in other environments.

Do you give homework or practice between sessions?

Yes, I occasionally provide therapeutic homework or practice activities between sessions. These assignments are designed to help clients apply and reinforce the skills learned in therapy within their daily lives. Often, this includes practicing coping strategies, emotional regulation techniques, or behavioral skills that support continued growth and progress outside of sessions.
