Frequently asked questions

What does our first session look like?

During our first session, I like to meet with parents or caregivers. This time gives us the space to discuss your child's strengths, challenges, developmental history, current concerns, and goals for therapy before your child begins the therapeutic process. My goal is to help families feel supported and comfortable from the moment we meet.

How do I know if my child may benefit from therapy?

Children and adolescents do not always have the words to explain their thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Because of this, emotions often appear through behavior. Therapy may be helpful for your child if they are experiencing overwhelming emotions (this may manifest as outbursts or self-isolation), have difficulty regulating their emotions, experience school stress, social difficulties, low self-esteem, grief, or are experiencing major life transitions. Many families seek therapy because they want additional support in helping their child navigate emotions in a safe, healthy way.
