Frequently asked questions

What does our first session look like?

Our first session is all about getting to know you. We'll spend time talking about what brought you to therapy, your goals, and any challenges you're currently facing. There's no pressure to share everything at once—my priority is creating a safe, welcoming space where you feel comfortable moving at your own pace.

How will I know if therapy is working?

Progress looks different for everyone. Sometimes it's feeling less anxious, communicating more effectively, sleeping better, or responding to challenges in healthier ways. We'll regularly check in on your goals and celebrate even the small steps forward because meaningful change happens over time

Do you give homework or practice between sessions?

Yes—when it's helpful. Therapy doesn't stop when our session ends, so I may suggest simple strategies, reflection questions, or coping skills to practice between sessions. Any recommendations are collaborative and tailored to your goals and comfort level.

What if my child or teen won't open up to you?

That's okay! Building trust takes time, and I never expect children or teens to share everything during the first session. My goal is to meet them where they are, create a space where they feel safe, and allow the relationship to develop naturally. Every child communicates differently, and we'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for them.

What can I expect from you as my therapist?

You can expect a therapist who listens without judgment, values collaboration, and believes every person has a story worth understanding. My goal is for you to feel seen, heard, supported, and empowered as we work together toward healing and lasting growth.
