Biography

I am a mother of four. I've dealt with many life experiences that have led me to become a counselor and understand what many others go through. Children, teens, and young adults are my favorite populations to work with. I enjoy working with issues such as anxiety, anger, grief, depression, adjustment disorders, and even trauma. I approach every case with genuineness, empathy, and unconditional positive regard for clients. My goal is to help clients feel worthy, heard, validated, and empowered.

Frequently asked questions

How do you handle confidentiality with teens?

I give clients my word that I will not go behind their backs and tell anyone about what we discuss in session. I share with them up front that the only time I would be required to do that is if they tell me about a plan to harm themselves or someone else, or if they tell me about someone else being harmed. For safety reasons, I would have to share those types of things. Otherwise, teens can expect privacy.

What does our first session look like?

The first session is usually for building rapport and trust. I take time to get to know my clients and their needs. Clients are typically a little nervous the first session, but it doesn't have to feel serious! After the first session, clients usually feel more comfortable.

How will I know if therapy is working?

You will know if therapy is working when you notice small tangible changes in your daily life. Success looks like reduced symptom severity, healthier boundary-setting, and a faster recovery time from emotional triggers. You might be able to pause more and notice your feelings. You will understand your feelings better. Progress is usually gradual, marked by both good and challenging days.
