Biography

I help children and teens who may be hesitant to engage, difficult to reach, or unsure about counseling feel safe, understood, and empowered to grow. My approach is rooted in connection, compassion, and trust because meaningful change begins with a strong therapeutic relationship. Through a warm, patient, and strengths-based approach, I help young people build confidence, manage emotions, navigate challenges, and discover their strengths while partnering with families to support lasting growth.

Frequently asked questions

What does our first session look like?

Our first session is all about getting to know your child, teen, and family in a comfortable, supportive environment. We'll spend time discussing what brought you to counseling, the challenges you're facing, and what you hope to gain from the experience. I also want to learn about your child's strengths, interests, and unique story—not just their struggles. Together, we'll explore your goals for counseling and discuss how I can best support your child and family moving forward. My goal is for everyone to leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and hopeful about the path ahead.

What if my child or teen won't open up to you?

Many parents worry their child or teen won't open up in counseling. Building trust is one of my greatest strengths, and I take time to meet each client where they are. I never force conversations or expect children to share before they're ready. Instead, I focus on creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where they feel heard and respected. Sometimes that means talking, engaging in activities, or simply sitting alongside them while trust develops. When children feel safe, they typically begin to open up at their own pace.

Do you give homework or practice between sessions?

Yes. I believe growth happens both in and outside of the counseling session. When appropriate, I provide opportunities for children and teens to practice the skills we discuss between sessions. I also offer handouts, visuals, and other resources that serve as reminders and support as they build new habits. Parents are an important part of the process, so I work closely with caregivers to help them understand what their child is learning and how they can encourage and reinforce those skills at home.
