Emora vs BetterHelp for clinicians.

BetterHelp is a high-volume, self-pay platform for adults: it fills your caseload fast, pays per engagement on a sliding scale, and expects you to be available on its messaging model. Emora is a network focused on kids, teens, and families, in-network with insurance, that books your after-school calendar with scheduled video sessions and pays per completed session.

Who the families areChildren, teens, and young adults, and their parents. Pediatric is the whole business, not a filter.Adults, self-pay. Teens exist on a sister product; children are not seen.
Who fills your calendarEmora. We bring the families, through our own marketing, our provider directory, school and physician referrals, and referrals from other Emora clinicians. You do no marketing.BetterHelp. Volume is high, but matches are algorithmic and clients churn quickly.
When families bookAfter school and evenings, 3 to 9 pm, and weekends. We ask for two prime blocks a week and fill them.Whenever clients message. Live sessions are scheduled, but text-based engagement is expected between them.
CredentialingFull service: CAQH, payer enrollment, and a tracker that shows where each payer stands. Not needed. BetterHelp is out of network, so there is no payer credentialing and no insurance billing.
EHR and notesThe Emora Care Platform, our own EHR built from the ground up for work with kids and families: AI-assisted notes, measurement-based care, parent portals, and school coordination in one place.BetterHelp's own portal; messaging and video in one place.
How pay worksPer completed session, twice a month, by direct deposit, whether or not the payer has paid us yet. We book the calendar, so we talk in months.Per engagement, on a sliding scale that rises with weekly hours; live sessions and messaging pay differently.

Where BetterHelp fits

If you want adult self-pay volume immediately and are comfortable with a messaging-first model, BetterHelp delivers volume.

Where Emora fits

If you want scheduled video sessions with children, teens, and families, covered by insurance, on a calendar Emora books and holds at ten to fifteen sessions a week, we are built for that. Many clinicians keep BetterHelp for adult volume and add Emora after school.

The one question to ask both of us

Ask each platform: how many sessions a week will you book for me, and can you show me clinicians whose calendars have stayed full for a year? Emora can.

Compare months, not hours. Ask every platform one question: how many sessions a week will you book for me? Emora brings the families and books your after-school calendar, then holds it at ten to fifteen sessions a week, month after month. That steady caseload, not the per-session line, is what your month is made of.

Emora vs BetterHelp: questions

Can I be on BetterHelp and Emora at the same time?
Yes. Emora is scheduled after-school video work with kids and teens; it sits alongside a messaging-based adult caseload without conflict.
Does Emora expect between-session messaging?
No. Families message through the parent portal for scheduling and forms, and you decide how you use it clinically. You are paid per completed session, not per engagement.
Do I need insurance credentialing on Emora?
Emora is in-network, and we do the credentialing for you: CAQH, payer enrollment, and a tracker in your dashboard. You do not need to be paneled before you apply.

Bring your license. We bring the families.
