About teen therapists in Arizona

A teenager who agrees to therapy has usually been carrying something for a while. Parents often get here after a stretch of slammed doors, grades sliding, a friendship that fell apart, or one comment at dinner that made the whole house go quiet. Wanting help for your teen does not mean you have failed them, and it does not mean things have to get worse before they can get better.

Teen therapy is not child therapy with older clients. Your teen is the client in the room, and the work depends on them believing that. The clinicians here are clear with families in the first session about what stays between them and your teen and what does not, so nobody has to guess. Most draw on cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT skills, or acceptance and commitment therapy, and many hold a short separate check-in with parents alongside the individual sessions.

Everyone on this page works with adolescents, is licensed in Arizona, and is accepting new clients. Sessions are by video, which matters more at this age than any other. A teenager who will not sit in a waiting room will often talk from their own bedroom.

Teen Therapists in Arizona: common questions

How much does teen therapy cost in Arizona?
Emora is in-network with most major commercial plans, and with Medicaid in several states. Once your plan is applied, most families pay between $0 and $35 per session. You can check what your own plan covers before you book at /cost-estimate. There is no membership fee, and matching with a clinician is free.
What is the difference between a teen therapist and a school counselor?
A school counselor supports your teen inside the school. That means schedules, accommodations, short check-ins, and crisis response during the school day, usually across a caseload of several hundred students. A teen therapist is an independently licensed mental health clinician who provides ongoing, confidential treatment for anxiety, depression, self-harm, trauma, and related concerns. They are not competing roles, and many families keep both. The clinicians on this page are licensed therapists, not school staff.
What ages do teen therapists on this page work with?
This page lists clinicians who work with adolescents. Individual age ranges vary and are shown on each provider card. Younger siblings are better served by the child therapy page for Arizona. Emora also has clinicians who work with young adults into their mid-twenties, which matters when your teen is heading to college and does not want to start over with someone new.
How soon can my teen start?
Only clinicians who are currently accepting new clients appear on this page, and the times on each card come from that clinician’s live calendar. Many families book a first session within about 48 hours. If your teen is in immediate danger, call or text 988 now rather than waiting for an appointment.
Are teen therapy sessions virtual?
Yes. Every session is over secure video. Your teen will need a private room and a time that does not collide with practice or a shift, which is why clinicians on this page keep evening and weekend availability. Emora does not operate physical clinics.

My approach is warm, genuine, and nonjudgmental-- with a little humor and playfulness woven in along the way. I want my clients to feel safe being exactly who they are, whether that means talking through big emotions, laughing together, or simply taking things one step at a time. My primary modalities include EMDR, CBT, and DBT. My goal is to create a space where both children and parents feel heard, respected, and empowered to grow. I look forward to meeting you.

She provided great information, was transparent throughout the entire process, and took the time to make sure she would be a good fit for my daughter before moving forward. That really gave me confidence that her priority was making sure my daughter received the support she needed. My daughter also felt comfortable with her right away, which made the experience even better.

Janet has made my child feel very comfortable. They look forward to meeting with Janet next time. Janet and I were able to come to an agreement on how communication will be held between us so that my child can get the best support on both sides. This gave me such peace of mind.

I'm a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with a perinatal mental health certification (PMH-C), specializing in ADHD, anxiety, and the emotional weight that builds when high-functioning kids and teens work hard to hold it together — until they can't. I work with families from the very beginning — supporting parents through the perinatal period, walking alongside toddlers and school-age kids, and working with adolescents and young adults who are figuring out who they are under pressure. I work both from the top down (helping young people understand their patterns) and the bottom up (using somatic, body-based tools to build real regulation skills). My goal isn't just coping strategies — it's helping your child develop the internal capacity to navigate hard moments without shutting down or burning out. I believe parents are essential partners in this work. You know your kid. I bring the clinical framework. Together, we build something sustainable.

I’m Tiffany Martin, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of experience supporting adolescents and adults through challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship and family concerns, workplace conflict, and major life transitions. Before becoming a therapist, I spent ten years in the music classroom, where I saw firsthand how creativity and connection foster healing. Today, I bring that same belief into therapy, integrating CBT, expressive arts, and other approaches to help you challenge unhelpful patterns and build healthier ways of thinking, feeling, and living. I have experience working with individuals who identify as neurodivergent, including those with ADHD, Autism, Anxiety, Bipolar disorder, and depression. My priority is to create a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where you feel valued, understood, and hopeful. I’ll meet you with empathy while also encouraging growth—cheering you on, advocating for you, and supporting you through difficult moments. Even if it doesn’t feel like it right now, you are braver than you think and stronger than you know, and together we can work toward a life that feels more balanced, connected, and fulfilling.

Today I finally accomplished something that I have been putting off for years- getting help for myself. This can feel daunting to most and is truly nerve recking unless you find a Dr. who is compassionate and helpful at every step and I found just that in Dr. Nitsch. I have only had a consultation so far but I have never felt more seen and understood in my life. Dr. Nitsch is a gem and I am happy God placed her in my life. Hoping for a smooth process in this journey.
