Frequently asked questions

What does our first session look like?

Our first session is a conversation about what brought you to therapy and what you are looking to get out of it. I will be asking about your history, and psychological testing that has been done. We will look at what approach best fits you and how we can work together to accomplish your goals.

What if my child or teen won't open up to you?

Let me worry about that. I have been working with anxious, depressed, disorganized, and reluctant teens for years. Often times parents feel as though there child or teen wont speak, but more often then not they open up to those they don't live with, don't parent them, and give them the confidence to be themselves.

How do you handle confidentiality with teens?

We review cofidentiality and mandated reporting during our first session. Your teen is always welcome to ask for clarity, understanding, re-phrasing, and a re-cap before, during, and after sessions. It is imprtant to me that your teen fully understands there rights to confidentiality.
