Frequently asked questions

What does our first session look like?

I spend time explaining preliminary information related to beginning therapy with me. I will share a little about my background and counseling approach, and I will invite you to share information about yourself and what brings you to therapy. I take time to listen carefully to your primary concerns, understand the frequency and duration of those concerns, explore your immediate needs, and consider any relevant diagnoses that may help guide treatment. I will collaborate with you—or with a parent or caregiver when working with a minor—to establish meaningful treatment goals.
