Saya Des Marais, MSW

Mental Health Writer & Researcher

Saya is a former therapist-turned-mental health content writer with nearly 15 years of experience in the mental health field. She helps mental health brands and professionals create compassionate, digestible, and clinically accurate content that speaks directly to the people who need it most. As a therapist, she primarily worked with children and teens in community settings, like health clinics, public schools, and homeless shelters. She's trained in the use of evidence-based treatments like Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Motivational Interviewing. Now, she dedicates herself full-time to her mental health copy and content writing business. Her writing has been featured in dozens of mental health publications and brand websites.

"Research shows, time and time again, that what heals children’s mental health is connection. Feeling safe with an adult rewires how their brain responds to stress and helps them become more resilient. Therapists can help you and your child build that connection and safety."
