10: Place of service 10: telehealth in the patient's home
Place of service 10 means the client received telehealth at home. Place of service 02 means telehealth somewhere other than home (school, a relative's house, a car). Since 2022 most payers use 10 for home and 02 for everywhere else; a few still want 11 with modifier 95. The payer decides.

When to use it
Document where the child was for each session; Emora maps that to the code the payer wants.
When not to
Do not guess the location or leave it out. A teen at school and a parent at home is a common split; the child's location controls.
With children and families
Where the child sits during the session matters clinically and administratively: privacy, a parent nearby for a young child, a stable connection. Note it every time. If a school lets a student join from a counselor's office, that is 02, and some payers have rules about school-based telehealth.
Questions about 10
- POS 10 or 02 for a teen in a parked car?
- 02: not the home. Note the location and that privacy was adequate.
- Does POS change pay?
- Some payers pay differently by place of service. Emora bills what the payer requires; your pay per completed session is unchanged.
